Nikon Coolpix S9100 has equipped with a backside-illuminated 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor (1/2.3"-type), including a powerful 25mm wide-angle 18x Zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens, EXPEED C2 processing engine and uses a 25 to 450-mm lens. The camera is compact and only 1.4-inches thick. Like the P300, Nikon Coolpix S9100 sports a 3-inch Ultra-High Resolution VGA (921,000-dot) Clear Color Display. The S9100 can also capture full HD video at 30 frames per second with 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution with a dedicated movie-record button.

ISO sensitivity can extend up to 3200 (ISO – 800 in automatic mode), while maximum aperture varies from f/3.5 to f/5.9 across the zoom range, sensor shift in combination with electronic stabilization features. It also features HD output, 360/180 degrees panorama modes and a creative slider to adjust images while shooting, Movie modes are include 4000 x 3000, 3968 x 2232, 3264 x 2448, 2592 x 2944, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 1024 x 768, 640 x 480.

The Coopix S9100 also has Macro Shooting for shooting as close as 1.6 inches. Coolpix S9100 also comes with 74MB of built-in memory, USB 2.0, and it supports SDHC and SDXC card types. Power comes from a proprietary EN-EL12 lithium ion battery pack.
