Google Chrome OS Powered Laptop Samsung Series 5 Announced Officially

The Samsung Series 5, a standard ChromeBook with a dual-core 1.66GHz Intel Atom processor and up to 8.5 hours battery life in continuous usage has been announced at a cost of $429 for the WiFi and $499 for 3G versions respectively. The 3G version includes 100MB of free Verizon data per month.

Google developed the Chrome operating system boasts of the three key aspects of the OS: speed, simplicity and security. The Series 5 starts up in less than ten seconds, it runs the first consumer operating system designed from the ground up to defend against the ongoing threat of malware and viruses.

– Large multi-touch trackpad
– Intel® Core™2 Duo N570 1.66Ghz Processor
– 16:10 resolution with 12.1-inch SuperBright Display
– Starts up time < 10-seconds

– HD Webcam, built-in digital microphone and stereo speakers

The Samsung Series 5 is scheduled to be launch in the U.S. June 15, 2011 from Amazon.com and BestBuy.com.
