Motorola said nothing about the update officially. But earlier today a Motorola employee has confirmed the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update for the Droid series line up while answering in a thread started by a customers who are concerned with the faulty Exchange Activesync on their handsets. We are hearing that the Droid X software testing program has been launched and is available for some selected customers as a project. This could very well mean that Motorola Droid X could get the Gingerbread update first. According to Droid-Life, Droid X users will get the update by the “end of the second quarter”, followed by the Droid Pro and Droid 2 which are expected to receive the GB update “before the end of the third quarter”. We also learned that though Motorola have finalised the all the Gingerbread update builds for the Droid series devices, but it’s Verizon Wireless which is holding back the update rollout. By the way, the update will fix the Exchange ActiveSync issue which is broken in the current builds.
