BBC has launched a dedicated mobile app for iPhone and iPad devices few months ago and the app recorded downloads of 3 million in the UK alone. As a follow up, BBC has now come up with an official app for the most popular mobile phone platform, the Android. Official BBC Android app is currently available for all the Android mobile phone users in UK with Android OS version 1.6 and above. While Android 1.6+ users will get to watch in-story videos in the app (Flash not required), however you need to have a mobile phone running Android 2.2 or higher to watch the BBC News Channel exclusive live streaming (requires Adobe Flash).
The app lets you see top stories from various sections: world, UK, sport, technology, education, entertainment & arts, politics, health etc. and will work on devices with or out without Adobe Flash enabled. The app works on Wi-Fi or 3G data connection. If you are in the UK and frequently visit BBC website for updates on your Android smartphone, we highly recommend you to download and install this dedicated app.
