“Facebook Inside Xperia” (Android 2.3.3) Update Rolling Out To Xperia Arc And Play

Sony Ericsson has earlier announced that all the Xperia branded mobile phones would be featuring an exclusive “Facebook Inside Xperia”, a feature that integrates Facebook experience deep into the aspects of the phone. Today Sony Ericsson has officially started rolling out the update starting with their newly released Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and Xperia Play devices. The update also updates Android to Gingerbread 2.3.3, a blog post on Official Sony Ericsson blog reports.

With Facebook Inside Xperia integration you can get notifications for new messages and events from Facebook directly to your homescreen even if it’s locked. Phone’s gallery will include photos from your Facebook albums and the photos in which you are tagged. The contacts will be synced with respective Facebook profiles. You can also like and share music on your Xperia phone with your Facebook friends. The included Android 2.3.3 will bring battery life improvements, Wi-Fi stability, HD video recording performance for Arc, touch responsiveness and other bug fixes.

The update will be first rolled out in Europe to the unbranded “trade-kits” early. It will be available both via Over-the-air update or through Sony Ericsson’s PC connectivity software. The users with carrier branded devices will have to wait till the update roll out. The update is being rolled out gradually so it’s all goes down to who gets it first. Have you already got the update for your Xperia device? How’s the Facebook integration experience? Do let us know through comments.
