HTC Flyer Gets A Firmware OTA Update 2.00.405.3, Download Now

The 7-inch HTC Flyer is the first ever tablet from the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. It has been on sale since last month and it comes pre-installed with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread OS instead of tablet optimized Honeycomb flavor of Android OS. HTC Flyer is also known as HTC EVO View 4G for Sprint, which is expected to release on June 24th. Well, HTC has recently started rolling out a new firmware update for the HTC Flyer tablet. This is just a maintenance update, at a size of only 26.68MB, which is a clear indication that it’s not going to be Android 3.0 Honeycomb from the onset.

HTC Flyer Gets A Software Update 2.00.405.3

The latest Firmware OTA(FOTA) update’s build number is being treated as 2.00.405.3, which brings “improved system performance” for the tablet to give some boosting to Gingerbread, bringing an even better responsive experience, slightly better performance of the apps & widgets, an improved Trace keyboard, and no other features are expected to be included in this update.

The owners of the HTC Flyer tablet will be seeing the notification of this new over-the-air update on their tablet’s homescreen or else you can head over to Home –> Settings –> About Tablet –> Software Updates –> and tap Check Now –> After the completion of downloading and installation of the FOTA update, the software version number should be shown as 2.00.405.3. The update is being pushed in waves, so it will take sometime to hit your tablet. Don’t get panic, it will sure update your tablet and you will spot the new version in the setting menu of your tablet, and it would be better if you take a full backup of your tablet’s data before you proceeding to apply this update, using a proper free Wi-Fi hotspot.
