Samsung to Release Flexible AMOLED Hi-Resolution displays in Q2 2012

The all new hi-tech flexible display from Samsung has been doing just the same what it is meant to do for years now, displaying itself. While everyone has been running out of patience to feel the new technology, well the wait may come to an end soon. There are reports all over the web that suggests Samsung will be ready to release its technology beast to the world in Q2 of 2012.

It seems Samsung will be introducing smartphones, wrist watches with these flexible displays in 2012.
To reach that goal, Samsung Mobile Display division sets up a joint venture with Ube Kosan, a Japanese company which can deliver the plastic substrate material to SMD. This will enable Samsung to mass-produce flexible AMOLEDs for watches and phones which will be for us to play with.

Samsung expects the flexible Display market is expected to reach 2.4 billion dollars in 2015. The conclusion is that we will see first 4.5 inch WVGA, worlds highest resolution Flexible AMOLED. with a resolution of  480 by 800, a bending radius of <10mm, weighing 2.1 g, thickness of 0.27mm and a brightness of 300 cd/m² early next year.

These are just initial reports on the developing possibilities of the release dates with the Samsung’s preparation for mass production of the long awaited display.
