In Singapore today, as promised earlier, after the countdown completion on its Facebook account, Chinese electronics manufacturer Huawei has just officially introduced the planet’s first Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS powered tablet — the MediaPad – a 7-inch tablet featuring 217 pixels-per-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen 1280 x 800 pixel display, and it is having an impressive spec list. Specs wise, there is a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, equipped with a a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera for video chats, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, HD video recording capability, support for 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity, 8GB internal memory storage, and a micro-SD card slot for adding up to 32GB of storage. It has a micro-USB port alongside an full-sized HDMI connector at the base, 3.5mm headset jack on the top, a pair of speaker grills. and there is also a dedicated power connector included.
Huawei MediaPad is quiet slim and the tablet supports 1080p HD video playback, HSPA+ (14.4Mbps) 3G connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR, an HDMI output, pre-loaded with Facebook, Twitter, Let’s Golf and Documents To Go apps, Flash 10.3 support, and with Facebook, Twitter, Let’s Golf and Documents to Go applications pre-loaded. The tablet comes with 0.41” (10.5mm) profile, and weighs in 390 grams (0.86 pounds). Huawei has noted that its 1,400mAh battery should provide more than six hours of battery life. The tablet is also touted to play audio and video files of any format.

The MediaPad is having 217ppi. Till now, the Motorola Xoom has being treated as the highest pixel density tablet on the market at 160ppi, while the Apple iPad 2 is having 132ppi, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is having 149ppi. However, Huawei MedaPad is the smaller version, and the other mentioned tablets are 10-inch models. The Android Honeycomb version 3.2 is basically identical to the newly unveiled Android 3.1 except for the fact that it’s optimized for smaller 7 inch tablets, while the Android 3.2 is having the support for 10-inch tablets such as Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and etc,. So, it’s just 3.1 but for 7-inch devices apparently.
Price & Availability
Huawei MediaPad tablet will be releasing this fall at an unknown price point. Huawei has confirmed that has "no current plans" to produce the Wi-Fi Only version of the MediaPad tablet. The tablet will be sold through carriers and retail outlets, and good news is that the takera won’t be required to sign the data plans with the carriers. The tablet is also hitting Asia and some select European markets. Huawei is also planning to release a 10-inch tablet later this year. Check out the more images and video after the break.
