Samsung is getting ready to unveil its AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint versions of the Samsung Galaxy S II, but unfortunately, Verizon is missing from the mix. Samsung Galaxy S II LTE is also set to unveil by the manufacturer very soon, but it looks like Verizon is also going to skip the Galaxy S II LTE phone. Sources are saying that Verizon thought Samsung Galaxy S II couldn’t be competing with the upcoming iPhone 5. So the carrier has other plans to launch the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich phone. Google Nexus Prime should be the first phone with the next version of Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich.
Samsung’s legal team has also confirmed that the Korean company is indeed manufacturing the Nexus Prime smartphone and it that would be reportedly launched under the name of Samsung Droid Prime by Verizon Wireless in October, bearing the model number SCH-i515. A previous leak has also suggested the same October time frame for Nexus Prime launch.
According to the previous leaks, Samsung Droid Prime aka Nexus Prime will be featuring TI OMAP 4460 1.5 GHz dual-core chipset, as well as the huge Super AMOLED HD 720p touchscreen display (1280 X 720 pixels) and the remaining details are scarce. We also don’t have any images of the Nexus / Droid Prime. The source couldn’t get the details about how much Verizon will ask for the Samsung Droid Prime, and what could be the exact release date. We guess Samsung Droid Prime’s price value will likely be in line with the prices of other LTE smartphones ranging between $250 – $300 on contract.
