Amazon Kindle Fire Full Specifications And Price Details

Amazon Kindle Fire

The Amazon Kindle Fire is an Android-based tablet from the online giant retailer, which is having all the mid-range specifications. It looks a lot like a BlackBerry PlayBook.

Amazon Kindle Fire runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with Amazon’s own eye-candy overlay on top of it, sporting a 7″ IPS-LCD backlit display with 1024 X 600 pixels of resolution with Gorilla Glass coating, powered by a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP4 processor, 8GB of internal memory storage, 512MB RAM to keep things running, 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity, top-mounted stereo speakers, access to the Amazon’s own App Store, Kindle books, full-color magazines, etc. — all stored for free via Amazon Cloud Storage, access for 100,000 movies and TV shows, 17 million songs and much more. Amazon is also throwing a 30-day trial of Amazon Prime. Whispersync works with movies and TV Shows. Kindle Fire is also bringing an incredible computational horsepower of Amazon EC2 to accelerate mobile browsing with the help of “Amazon Silk” browser.

Sadly, Amazon kindle Fire is lacking camera and 3G connectivity and there is no access for Android Market.

  1. Have a couple of questions. Would it play DIVX/XVID (MPEG-4 part 2) or does it only do MPEG-4 part 12 (MP4)? Having never used anything “smart” before, a naive question perhaps: would it be possible to install applications that user wishes or is it going to be locked into whatever Amazon decides to provide?

    Thanks!

  2. You don’t need a Kindle to read Amazon Kindle eBooks. You can download the free Kindle Ereader for Windows to your netbook or laptop or desktop and do everything. So why bother with a limited device mainly for eBooks? No reason that I can see!!

    • Looks like it would be good for kids and a score for education in general. We’re talking 200 bucks here people don’t expect a Ferrari when you’re paying for a Pinto!

  3. Not really impressed…Gingerbread? Ug. 8 gigs of storage, 512 megs of ram is really small amount especially with no expansion. The only thing I can see this doing is improving android tablet market share which I suppose is good for those of us who own other tablets. Was really hoping for something bit beefier from amazon but guess cant argue with the price.

  4. If it doesn’t have HDMI output, USB Port to connect USB 3G, MicroSD Slot and it’s CPU is not at least 1ghz armv7 Cortex then I am sticking to my Meiying M11 (1024*768 IPS, HDMI, MicroSD, 1.2Ghz A8 Cortex CPU, Android 2.3 and fluent 1080p h264 streaming), Zenithink C91 & Aishuo A816 Capacitive. Their cost is also up to $200.
