Google Translate is one very cool experimental feature for sure, that Google’s been working on over the months. A new version of the Google Translate app, version 2.2 is now available to download from Android Market. Back in January, Google has added Conversation mode to this app only for Spanish and English to help instant voice translations. Conversation Mode is “optimized to allow you to communicate fluidly with a nearby person in another language.” Google Translate 2.2 brings a new conversation mode that supports Speech-to-Speech feature in 14 languages including Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Russian and Turkish.
We began with just English and Spanish, but today we’re expanding to 14 languages, adding Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Russian and Turkish.
Google Translate 2.2 lets the users to correct entries before sending them off for translations. Users can now pinch-to-zoom on text to view it better as well enter unrecognized words to your personal dictionary, bringing the ability to correct voice input before having it translated. The new version also brings an adapted Honeycomb interface. We’ve seen a demo of this new version, which you can check after the break. Android handsets’ users running Froyo or above can now grab the Google Translate 2.2 app from Android Market (hit the link) for free, which is weighing 3.2MB of size.
