Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime–World’s First Tegra 3 Quad Core Tablet Goes Official For $499/$599

As we said earlier, Asus has finally stepped up and announced the world’s first Tegra 3 quad-core processor-equipped tablet called, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer “Prime”, which is the successor of the original Eee Pad Transformer tablet. Finished with metallic spun material, Asus Transformer Prime is carrying all the awesome features. The new Nvidia Tegra 3 promises five times the performance of Tegra 2.

Asus Transformer Prime has got a 10.1-inch Super IPS+ display (1280 X 800 pixels of resolution) with 178 degree viewing angles with Corning Gorilla Glass coating, 1GB DDR2 RAM, an 8MP rear camera (1080p video and F2.4 aperture, back-illuminated CMOS sensor), 1.3MP front camera for video chatting, 32GB or a big 64GB of storage + Asus WebStorage, an SD card slot for memory expansion support.  HDMI and micro USB ports, GPS, a gyroscope, SonicMaster Technology for “crisp and acoustically accurate audio”,  and a 24Wh battery to provide usage time up to 12 hours and the docking station is also having 22Wh battery. Asus is claiming that the tablet+dock will last up to 18 hours. The Transformer Prime is 0.3″ thin, weighs 1.29 pounds, and the anodized aluminum frame will be offered in grey and purple, as well as gold and silver finishes. Transformer Prime’s preinstalled apps are including Preloaded apps: ASUS Launcher, Sync, and WebStorage; App Locker and App Backup; Supernote; TegraZone; Polaris Office.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime runs Android 3.2 Gingerbread OS at the launch time, but the rollout of the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS update should roll out very soon. The good news is that Asus plans to show the Asus Transformer Prime running Android ICS at their December launch event.

Asus will charge $499 for 32GB of Transformer Prime and the 64GB version will ring up at $599. No release date for the tablet release hasn’t been announced, but it will ship in early December and the keyboard dock won’t be arriving until early December, which will cost you $149.   1. I purchased an ASUS Eee Pad Transformer for about two weeks ago. I find it very intuitive for me. I compare my ASUS Eee Pad Transformer and Ipad2. I think it’s similar. But in the end I chose the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer, since it is cheaper than Ipad2. In Black friday 2011 I want to buy ASUS Eee Pad Transformer for my brother. Thanks for the info.
