We already published the articles about the newly launched Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime’s specs comparison with the new Motorola Xoom 2 and the most famous Apple iPad 2. Now, we came with another article pitching the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime against the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. After all, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is having the dual-core processor, but the new Asus Transformer Prime is way more attractive, which has got the powerful quad-core processor equipped under its hood. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 can not be matched up with Asus Transformer Prime, but it still can give tough competition and can be matched up in some areas with Asus Transformer Prime.

OS

Both the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 run the tablet based operating system, Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. This Android platform brings the powerful, effortless multitasking and easily customizable widgets for the tablets. Both the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Transformer Prime tablets will be upgraded to the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS soon, according to their announcements.

Display, Size & Weight

Both the Asus Transformer Prime and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablets are having the same 10.1-inch displays with 1280 X 800 resolution. The screens on both the Transformer Prime and Galaxy Tab 10.1 look pretty spectacular. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1’s screen uses PLS TFT touchscreen technology for better viewing angles and increased brightness, while the Transformer Prime is carrying the LED backlit touchscreen with Super IPS+ technology with 600nits, which brings 1.5X brighter than the competitors, claiming by Asus. The screen responsiveness has also been increased by more than 100%, which means that the screen reacts in 50ms, instead of 110+ms.

Asus Transformer Prime is just 8.3mm, which is ever so marginally thinner than the 8.6mm thick Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. In spite of the fact that a mere 0.3mm doesn’t seem like a deal breaker. The Galaxy Tab 10.1’s weight of just 565 grams, while the Transformer Prime weighing 586 grams of size. The lightweight design of the tablet makes it easy to use it and very comfortable to hold for long time periods. So, the Asus Transformer Prime is a bit heavier than the Tab 10.1, but lighter than the Apple iPad 2.

Processor

This is the real deal breaker and this will make a big difference here. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has got 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor combined with NVidia Tegra 2, which is reported for the fact this can carry the HD apps games with intensive graphics, and capable of recording 720p video or sending 1080p full HD to your TV via HDMI. Asus Transformer Prime has the highest clocked processor yet announced – NVidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core ARM Cortex A9 processor combined with 12-core GeForce graphics processor. NVIDIA says that Tegra 3 has 5X the raw horsepower of Tegra 2, bringing the graphics boost and the processing boost. Tegra 3 also consumes less energy than Tegra 2 under most circumstances.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a 3-megapixel rear camera on its rear that also doubles as a 720p HD video recorder, and a 2-megapixel front camera for video calls.

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime has a higher quality camera, with a larger aperture and dynamic auto-focusing capabilities and a faster shutter speed. For Transformer Prime tablet, there’s a 1.2 megapixel camera on the front, and an 8 megapixel camera on the back with an impressive F2.4 aperture (which is high-end for this generation high-end handset’s cameras), a back-illuminated sensor for better low light capabilities, LED flash and it can record 1080p video. Do we really need serious cameras on tablets?

Memory

The Asus Eee pad Transformer Prime offers a choice of 32GB and 64GB internal memory. The Galaxy Tab 10.1, on the other hand, also offers two choices of 16GB and 32GB. But, you won’t be seeing the 64GB variant of the Galaxy Tab 10.1. As you’ll know, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 don’t have any kind of microSD card slot, but the Transformer Prime has got a microSD card slot form memory expansion support up to 32GB. You can expand the memory storage on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the help of an exclusive USB adapter, which should be purchased separately form Samsung.

Both the Asus Transformer Prime and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 are having the same system memory. Yes, you will get 1GB of RAM for each tablet.

Connectivity

Both the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 have got 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4.5mm headset jacks, Adobe Flash support. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 available in Wi-Fi, HSPA+ versions and version will work on 4G LTE Verizon network in the U.S. Asus Transformer Prime’s versions have yet to be confirmed by the manufacturer. Galaxy Tab 10.1 isn’t having a micro-USB port. You need to buy the proprietary connector cable, which charges the Galaxy Tab 10.1 much faster than a standard micro-USB port could.

Other Features

Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime is having micro HDMI port, while the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 users have to utilize an optional HDTV adapter that includes a HDMI-out connection.
