At CES 2012 event today, AT&T has officially announced the first 4G LTE capable Sony Xperia Ion handset. The phone will be branded ‘Sony’. Xperia Ion is the first 4G LTE capable Sony handset. The handset is schedule to hit the AT&T network in 2nd quarter of this year. Sony Xperia Ion is also having Sony PlayStation certification. Here are the basic features of Sony Xperia Ion:

# Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread OS. Upgradeable to Android 4.0.x ICS.
# 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 MSM8260 dual-core chipset.
# 4.55-inch 720p display with Mobile Bravia Engine technology.
# 720 X 1280 pixels of resolution, 319 PPI pixel density.
# 12MP main camera with Exmor R sensor and it takes under 2 seconds to get the camera from standby mode to image capture.
# 1.3MP front-facing camera.
# 1080p HD video recording capability.
# 1GB RAM.
# 1GB internal memory storage, 16GB eMMC, 32GB expandable on microSD card slot.
# 4G LTE capability.
# 1900mAh battery.
# HDMI, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bravia Sync.

AT&T carrier has yet to announce the exact price tag info and release date of the Sony Xperia Ion handset. The manufacturer hasn’t mentioned about the global roll out the Xperia Ion handset. Check out the Images and demo video after the break.
