Moto RAZR, Xoom 2 Family Edition To Get ICS Update in Q2, 2012; Atrix, Atrix 2, Photon 4G in Q3

Motorola Android ICS Update Timeline

Motorola has yet to roll out the most awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for its Motorola RAZR, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX, Droid Bionic and some other handsets. So far, Motorola has managed to roll out the Android 4.0 ICS update for its Wi-Fi edition of the Motorola Xoom in the U.S. only. Today, the manufacturer has posted the initial timeline showing off its plans for updating its devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich build. According to the timeline, None of any Motorola device will be upgraded to the latest version of Android OS till April month.

However, the timeline reveals that Motorola has added the Motorola Atrix 4G, Atrix 2, Motorola Electrify and Motorola Photon 4G handsets to the list of the handset that will be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS OS later this year. In the first phase, international version of the Motorola RAZR; Motorola Xoom 2 Family Edition of the U.S and China based Motorola MT917, XT928 devices will be upgraded to Android 4.0 ICS in the 2nd quarter of this year. In Q3 (that’s between July and September), the update will be rolled out for the Motorola Xoom 2 and Xoom 2 Media Edition tablets; Motorola Atrix, Atrix 2 and Photon 4G handsets.

The biggest disappointment is that Motorola is still evaluating planning to roll out the Android 4.0 update for the Verizon branded Motorola Droid RAZR, RAZR MAXX, Droid Bionic, Droid Xyboard 8.2 and Droid Xyboard 10.1 devices. So, the whole story is suggesting us that buying a non-Nexus and non-Google Experience Android devices in the future is a bad idea.
