Update: Both the official Twitter accounts of the Asus US and Asus UK, have confirmed that Android 4.0.3 ICS update should begin rolling out in the U.S. and U.K from February 24th.

Here’s a bit of big exciting news from Asus on its official Facebook page, saying that the latest and greatest version of the Android OS is now rolling for the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 tablets from today. Yes, After so many delays, the manufacturer has finally started pushing out the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS for the OG Asus Transformer tablet snow.

Asus has confirmed that the ICS upgrade will be first available in Taiwan first and the folks from other regions from all over the world can be able to grab the Android ICS update within the next few days. The new firmware upgrade bumps the software version up to 9.2.1.11.

The official changelog of the Android 4.0.3 ICS build for the Asus Transformer tablet is yet to be revealed out. But we can say that the new build will bring much better GPU acceleration for smoother scrolling, re-sizeable widgets, Android ICS browser will be lightning fast, ability to create folders, the stock browser will be much better without any keyboard lags and you can take advantage of the newly released Chrome Beta browser for ICS running devices.

The OG Asus Transformer owners should be seeing the OTA (over-the-air) notification alerts on your devices, asking you to tap on the Download button. If the update fails to make its way to your device, you can try to pull the update by heading over to Settings –> About Tablet –> System Firmware Update and then press the Check for Updates button –> Accept it if the update found –> Follow the on-screen instructions and let finish the upgrade process –> That’s it –> Get ready to enjoy the ice cream sandy. So, sit tight and keep hitting the update button.

  1. I found some annoying things,
    Why the camera has a real and horrible physical sound now?!
    Can I return to Honeycomb?
    I don’t like how the apps screen slide now, hc looked better!
