Samsung Exynos Processor

Samsung has been tight-lipped about the processor that will be equipped in the “Next Galaxy” flagship phone from Samsung, possibly called the Galaxy S III. A few moments ago, we reported that Samsung Galaxy S III has topped the all other Android devices that have been benchmarked in the AnTuTu database and the Galaxy S III has been listed with dual-core Exynos 4412 processor. Well, Samsung has officially confirmed in its press release that the brand new quad-core Exynos processor, clocked at 1.4GHz, will power the upcoming Galaxy S III handset.

Yes, Sammy is going to use its own quad-core 32nm Exynos based off ARM’s Cortex A9 architecture for every next Galaxy device. The new Exynos quad-core processor built on the High-k Metal Gate (HKMG) low-power process technology and it can deliver twice the computing power at 20% less power consumption over the 45nm process based Exynos 4 dual-core chip and it features full HD 30 frame per second video hardware codec engine. The manufacturer has also confirmed that the brand new its next generation system-on-a-chip – Exynos 4 Quad is “pin-to-pin” compatible with dual-core Exynos powered devices and can be easily upgraded in current dual-core devices.

Hankil Yoon, Senior Vice President of ProductStrategy Team, Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business has mentioned that  "Samsung’s next Galaxy device, which will be officially announced soon, offers uncompromised performance and ground breaking multi-tasking features, thanks to Exynos 4 Quad’s powerful performance and efficient energy management technology."

We’ve been hearing that Samsung will prefer different name for the next Galaxy handset instead of the Galaxy S III, but the latest version of the Samsung Kies software has confirmed the brand name for it. A couple of Samsung devices have been labeled as the Samsung “GT-i9300” and “GT-i9300T” and each labeled as the "Galaxy S3". In the screenshot pictured below, you can see that the the handset in the GS III’s placeholder is the Samsung Galaxy Note.
