An over-the-air (OTA) update has begun rolling out to AT&T branded HTC Inspire 4G handsets. HTC has updated its Inspire 4G support page with the full changelog and a manual download of the file. Unfortunately, the new firmware update isn’t carrying Android 4.0 ICS goodies, but the handset will be updated with HTC Sense 3.6 UI. Here is what’ new in the software version v3.20.502.2:
# Addition of HTC Sense 3.6 UI
# Addition of AT&T Address Book
# Addition of a Task Manager to close uncontrollable apps that stay running and eat your battery
# Call optimization improvements (fewer dropped calls)
# Improved security functionality
# Fix for a problem with the display of contacts when using SMS/MMS
# Improvement for background data use
HTC Inspire 4G owners are beginning to see notifications to download the upgrade to latest firmware v3.20.502.2 over-the-air. You can check for the update manually by hitting Settings > System Updates > HTC software update > Check now. Impatient owners who can’t wait for the automatic OTA update process, you can download the full RUU file of the software version v3.20.502.2 directly from HTC website. The manufacturer has also provided complete instructions for installing the RUU file for the phone.
