The Asus-made Google Nexus 7 tablet is currently available in Wi-Fi only editions, priced at $199 for 8GB variant and $249 for 16GB model. If you are looking forward to buy a 3G variant of the Nexus 7 tablet, you may get it in the coming months. According to a source, Asus is prepping a 3G edition of the Google Nexus 7 tablet, running with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.
MoDaCo says “Asus is currently ramping production in preparation for launch in around 6 weeks.” No word yet on exactly about when or where the device will be launched in the U.S. and in other countries. But, MoDaCo claims a “very well-placed source” told them that a “Nexus 7 3G” tablet will be hitting the markets in around six weeks. That means we can expect the week beginning on October 15, could be the timeframe for launching the 3G-enabled Nexus 7 tablet. If you need a specs refresher, the 7-inch Nexus tablet sports 1280 X 800p display, 1.3GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 1GB RAM, 1.2MP camera on front side, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC radio inside, Google Wallet. 3G version will include a cellular radio and there won’t be any further hardware changes under the hood.
The Wi-Fi Nexus 7 tablet is a greatest and one of most affordable and cheapest Android tablets at this moment. We are expecting a 50% price increase for the 3G-enabled Nexus 7-incher. It looks like Google is looking forward to battle with the iPad Mini, which is rumored to be announced on September 12th and goes for sale sometime in October.
