No ICS Update for Motorola ATRIX 4G, Electrify and Photon 4G

Bad news for certain Motorola phones users as it appears those smartphones won’t be getting an Ice Cream Sandwich update anytime soon. A few days ago, Motorola made some changes to its OCS firmware update timeline with “further plans coming soon” description for Motorola ATRIX 4G, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola Electrify and Motorola Photon 4G handsets. Fortunately, ATRIX 2 handset has been recently upgraded with Android 4.0.4 ICS build by the manufacturer.

Now, the manufacturer made again updated its timeline chart, disappointing a tot of Motorola users. According to the updated chart, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Electrify and Photon 4G handsets will remain on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and won’t qualify for the Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade.

But, you don’t need to get panic, as the folks over XDA Developers Forum will take the situation in their hands. We suggest you to be patient till they release fully functional Android ICS ROM for the aforementioned Motorola handsets.
