HTC just announced the new powerhouse called HTC J Butterfly with its stunning 5-inch HD display. The Samsung GALAXY Note II has also got a 5.5-inch HD displayed, which was announced a couple of months ago. Here we are comparing the newly announced HTC J Butterfly against one of the top Android phones, the Samsung Galaxy Note II.
HTC J Butterfly is really a kickass and a stunning phone and it packs a 5″ Super LCD 3 1080p display that offers full HD quality, pixel density of 440ppi, runs Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), 1.5GHz APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor under the hood, LTE, 16GB internal storage, a microSD card slot, 2GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, 2020mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0/BLE, and Wi-Fi a/b/g/n. The J Butterfly weighs 140g and is 9.1mm thick. It will be available in 3 colors: red, white and black, and it is expected to hit the stores in December.
On the other side, Samsung Galaxy Note II is also a monster, which has got a massive 5.5-inch Super HD AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 pixels of resolution, 267 PPI, a 1.6 GHz Exynos quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM which, a rear 8 Megapixel Auto Focus Camera with LED Flash, a front 1.9MP camera, Bluetooth v 4.0, NFC with Google Wallet service, and a massive 3,300 mAh battery.
HTC J Butterfly’s 5-inch 1080p display is on above par with the iPhone’s retina Display, but it is a bit smaller than the Galaxy Note 2′s 5.5-inch screen. And HTC J Butterfly has got 2,020mAh battery, which is also smaller than Galaxy Note II’s 3,300mAh battery. But considering the 5-inch display on HTC phone, it won’t be a big problem. HTC J Butterfly has a retina-destroying 440 PPI, while the iPhone 5 has a pixel density 326 PPI.
Both phones will ship with latest version of the Android operating system called, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean build, which brings more responsive UI, Google Now (Apple Siri’s rival) offline voice input, automatically resizable widgets, Android Beam and many more. Galaxy Note II has been recently updated with an exciting feature called “split screen” aka “multi window,” (watch the below video) which lets you to operate two apps simultaneously on its larger screen. Hopefully, we can expect this type of apps for HTC J Butterfly phone, since it has also got a massive display.
The highlight feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note II is its revamped S-Pen, which is optimized for S-memo, Adobe Photoshop Touch and many more apps. S-Pen also lets you to move over a particular piece of content ( for ex: email, the gallery, video) to preview it without actually opening the app (which is called “AirView” feature).
So far, the Galaxy Note II has been confirmed to launch in the U.S. through Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular networks. Sprint will release it on October 25th for $299, U.S Cellular is currently taking pre-orders for $299.99 and T-Mobile will get in this fall for an unknown price tag. HTC J Butterfly won’t be available outside the Japan, but the manufacturer will launch it in the U.S. (expected for Verizon) and worldwide in the near future. No word yet on the official price tag of the J Butterfly phone.
