In case you missed yesterday’s special event, Apple took the warps off the new iPad mini, 4th generation iPad (which is indeed a big surprise), along with the completely redesigned iMac line-up and the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. If you want to see Apple CEO Tim Cook and Apple’s VP of of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller show off iPad mini, iPad 4 and the other Apple products, it is now available for streaming on Apple’s official website.

The iPad mini sports a 7.9-inch display the exact same resolution as the current iPad delivering 1024×768 pixels of resolution, a 1GHz dual-core A5 chip, a FaceTime HD front-side camera, and a 5MP iSight camera on the backside capable of recording 1080p videos, built-in LTE radio inside, faster Wi-Fi connectivity, and more. The iPad mini has a thinner bezel and metal design and 53 percent lighter than the iPad 3. Apple also believes that iPad mini is thinner and lighter than the Nexus 7.
On the other side, iPad 4 is having the same features of the current gen iPad with a little specs boost, including the Retina technology for its 9.7-inch display, A6 processor, a Lightning connector for charging and syncing, an HD FaceTime camera on front side to make FaceTime video calls over Wi-Fi or cellular, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity.
While the iPad mini is 53 percent lighter than the third generation iPad, it also has a 7.9-inch diagonal display that has the exact same resolution as the current iPad. At 1024×768, the new resolution makes it possible to move apps from a big iPad to the iPad mini seamlessly, and without forcing developers to update their apps to include yet another resolution for the device. That’s a big difference compared to the iPhone 5, which introduced a whole new aspect ratio to the iPhone.
