Google is now in final testing phase for its new version of Google maps for iOS 6-powered devices like Apple’s iPad and iPhone. According to Wall Street Journal, they heard from a person with direct knowledge of the matter that Google has distributed a test version of its new mapping app that will work on Apple’s iPhones to some individuals outside the company and the app will include turn-by-turn navigation.

Till now there is no information that when will Google submit its new Google maps app for approval to the iTunes store and it is unclear whether or not Apple will approve Google’s new mapping application.

Recently, Nokia announced that they aim to inspire a new generation of location services and devices that can make the mobile experience more personally significant for people everywhere and to release its own iOS map solution under the “Here” brand. The new HTML5-based iOS app will arrive in the App Store in the coming weeks and feature “offline capabilities, voice-guided walk navigation, and public transport directions.”

WSJ wasn’t able to give expected date for the app’s launch. But the launch sounds like sooner than later, as several reports in the last months had claimed the launch may be occurring before the end of this year. It was also rumored that the Map app is already available with Google and is waiting for approval from Apple. But it was later denied by Google. We will bring you more updates if we find more details regarding this app.
