ZTE Apache with 8-Core CPU?

Do you think ZTE can only produce low to mid-range handsets? Wait until next year. According to a new rumor, the Chinese manufacturer, ZTE is currently working on an Android handset called “Apache,” which is said to be equipped 8-core CPU from MediaTek. We’ve also heard that Mediatek has passed both NVidia and Qualcomm to produce the unnamed ARM15 MT6599 processor, which is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 28nm process. ZTE Apache is rumored to release in 2013.

The source has also revealed ZTE Apache will have a 1080p HD resolution display, 13 megapixel main camera on the back side and there will be support for WCDMA/4G LTE/TD-SCDMA bands.

Other rumors are also suggesting that Samsung is working on the upcoming Galaxy S IV smartphone with a super-powerful quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, along with the most energy efficient quad-core Cortex-A7. It works based on ARM’s big.LITLE concept. A7 processor is helpful to help extend your battery life, while the A15 processor will be utilized for heavy workloads.

Meditek 8-Core CPU

It’s good to see the manufacturers like ZTE and Huawei are keen to make fast tracks into the big leagues. Late last month, ZTE has become the 4th largest smartphone manufacturer by passing HTC. It’s interesting to see how well the ZTE Apache handset fares with 8-core CPU. Most of the current phones are running either with dual-core or quad-core processors. Of course, some are powered by 5-core CPUs. Recently, Huawei has been awarded as “Excellent Telecom Cloud Solution Provider of the year 2012.″
