Nokia Announced Asha 205 and Asha 206 Phones with “SLAM” file Sharing Service; Facebook button for Asha 205

We’ve seen a bunch of Lumia phones releasing over the past few days from Nokia. Recently, they have released the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 810, Lumia 822 and a low end spec’d Nokia Lumia 510 windows phone. Today, the manufacturer has made a couple of feature phones official. The new Nokia Asha 205 and Asha 206 budget phones are the latest additions to the Finnish mobile maker’s Asha line-up.

Both the Nokia Asha 205 and Asha 206 phone have got a new file sharing service called “SLAM,” which lets you to transfer media between devices that support Bluetooth connectivity without having to manually pair them. ‘Slam’ service uses the strength of a Bluetooth connection to automatically select the nearest phone for transferring photos or music and this service works with Bluetooth versions 2.1 and up, and on several mobile platforms such as Windows Phone and iOS. Both phones will ship with the cloud based Nokia Xpress Browser, Nokia Life or Nokia Life+ apps, and you will have access to EA gift pack of 40 free premium games. It’s worth noting that S40 Asha software is still alive on both these devices.

The Nokia Asha 205 is a Facebook capable/dedicated phone, and there’s a full QWERTY keyboard as well, and giving the users access to 40 free EA games. Previously, we’ve seen an Android phones called HTC Chacha and HTC Salsa with a dedicated Facebook button.

The New Asha 206 comes with similar specs as that of the Asha 205, excpet a few chnanges. It has got a 1.3 megapixel shooter on back side, while the Asha 205 equipped with a VGA camera. The Asha 206 isn’t having the dedicated Facebook button, and it offers up to 47 days of standby time.

It comes in the same black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and white as recently launched Lumia Windows Phone 8 handsets.

Both the Asha 205 and the 206 are also available in single- or dual-SIM versions, carrying the Nokia’s new ‘Slam’ file-sharing system and they also use Nokia’s EasySwap, which lets you to keep both SIM cards active at the same time. You can grab either of these handsets for just $62 (approximately Rs 3,500). both phones will also release Indonesia and Nigeria in Q4 2012 and Nokia has yet to announced precise launch dates, but they will start shipping by the end of this year.
