ZTE announces 5-inch U887 low-end phablet, Set for 2013

ZTE 5-inch U887

ZTE plans to compete with Huawei, Oppo, and HTC with its 5-inch Android smartphone. The ZTE U887 is low-cost dual-core offering unlike others where they offer 1080p high end phones.

The U887 features a 5-inch 800 x 480 resolution display, powered by Mediatek 1.2Ghz MT6577 dual-core CPU, 512MB memory, 5MP primary rear camera  sensor, and the front camera is a 3MP. The storage is a 4GB ROM and a 2000mAh battery for power. This particular phablet may come out to be one of the lowest priced in the 5-inch market as per the specs.

For your information, ZTE is also planning to come up with a high-end 1080p 5-inch Nubia Z5. It will have a quad-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, 7.6mm thinner profile, 2 gigabytes of RAM, a massive 13 megapixel camera on back side, and it will be packed in a unibody construction. It has also got dual stereo speakers and you can see HTC One series-like camera construction on the backside of the handsets. In the mean time another Chinese manufacturer Oppo has already made to the US with its Oppo Find 5 Android Phablet.

Despite the low specs, the U887 may find its way to the low cost favoring markets given its 5-inch display. As of now no words for its launch and availability. We will keep you updated.
