ZTE Intros Grand S with 1080p Display, 13MP Camera, LTE [CES 2013]

ZTE Grand S

As anticipated based on the earlier leaks and rumors, at CES 2013 event in Vegas, ZTE has officially unveiled the Grand S – its second handset to sport a Full HD (1920 x 1080) display. Just like the ZTE Nubia Z5, the Grand S is also built around 5-inch 1080p display and same hardware and technical specifications. The manufacturer has announced it as the world’s thinnest 5″ Full HD phone, as it has just 6.9mm thin frame, which is seriously a thickest point. If you might recall the 6.45mm Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra is currently holding the world’s thinnest smartphone title.

ZTE Grand S will have a a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm (that’s 220MHz clock speed more than in the new Sony Xperia Z/ZL, HTC Droid DNA and many more high-end Android phones), 2 gigabytes of RAM, 13 megapixel main camera on back side, 2 megapixel front facing shooter, 16GB of native storage, microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB, 4G LTE support, a fairly smaller 1780mAh battery.

ZTE will launch it with v4.1 Jelly Bean build (with obligatory custom UI on top of it), which the latest and greatest version of Android OS. On the other side, you can observe it has got HTC One X-like two-tone, glossy capacitive buttons. ZTE has included proprietary Palm Manager software to “helps users manage mobile phone software, optimize electricity use and protect private information”. Acording to a previous leak, the Grand S handset will be made available multiple colors – Black, Red, Lime Green, Gray, Pink and Blue.

The ZTE Grand S will start hitting the Chinese markets in the first quarter of this year. It looks like Grand S is going to be a tough competitor for the 5-inch Huawei Ascend D2 handset in China.
