In last week, the South Korean manufacturer has announced the new Samsung Galaxy S II Plus handset with Jelly Bean OS, while its predecessor still stuck on the out-dated Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich OS build. Fortunately, we now have a good news for the Samsung Galaxy S II owners. Samsung has finally detailed exact time frame for Jelly Bean roll out for the Galaxy S II handset.
In a conversation with CNET, a spokesperson from Samsung, has confirmed the company will begin rolling out the Jelly Bean update for GSII in early February for Singapore users, with the rest of the countries to follow. That means the Galaxy S II GT-I9100 will first get the new Android refresh, while the U.S. based GT-I777 (on AT&T) and the GT-T989 (on T-Mobile) will receive the update shortly after that.
The Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the GSII will carry some regular features such as Google Now, Project Butter, resizable widgets, and some specific features (currently available for Galaxy S III, Note II) including Smart Stay, Pop-up Play and Pause while recording video. Users will also get some pre-installed apps – Play Book and Play Movie (available in some markets), Google+, Google Talk, Block Mode for ignoring phone calls, and Easy Mode and many more.
Sammy has already confirmed that the large size Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S II will be be made available only via the Samsung Kies desktop program, and will not roll out over-the-air, and it will bring down the internal memory from 12GB to 11GB on handset. BTW, the manufacturer has recently announced that entire Galaxy S series shipments surpassed 100 million, while the number of Galaxy S III units sold has reached 40 million units since its initial launch in May, 2012.
