It looks like all the U.S. Samsung devices will be getting the Exynos and other security enhancements. A couple of days ago, T-Mobile Galaxy Note II and Sprint Epic 4G Touch devices have got such fix the Exynos exploit. Now we are happy to report that Verizon is also now rolling out a new firmware update for its Galaxy Note II edition, which is a small security patch to fix the awful bug in Samsung’s Exynos kernel (that many Samsung devices have been plagued with) as part of the software version I605VRALL4, and the build number will bumps up to JRO03C.I605VRALL4.

The Exynos Vulnerability lets the device (running on an Exynos 4 chip) R/W by all users and gives full access to physical memory in a single app, without any user-facing alert. Other devices affected by the same exploit are including the international Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note and Note 2, Galaxy Player models, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and the Galaxy Note 10.1, and devices from Lenovo and Meizu (MX).

According to the documentation on Verizon’s website, aside from the Samsung Exynos exploit the update is carrying some unexplained enhancements and improvements to the device. But, we are sure you will also get a new bootloader.

Users of the Verizon connected Galaxy Note II devices can expect the update to arrive over-the-air. The full size of the update is 7.8MB. Users who don’t want to wait for notification hitting their devices, can check for the update by heading over to Settings –> About Phone –> System Update –> and tap Check Now button. Samsung has yet to roll this security patch to AT&T Galaxy Note 2, and aforementioned devices.
