Mozilla has teamed up with GeekPhone and announced first Firefox OS phones called Keon and Peak. Firefox OS is based on Linux and HTML5 and its apps are created using HTML5, and he operating system runs HTML5 apps with direct access to the device’s hardware using JavaScript. Both the Keon and Peak are developer preview handsets running the Linux and HTML5-based Firefox OS. The web developers can easily create the apps for the arrival of the new platform. Keon is a low-end phone, while the Peak is being referred as a high-end spec’d phone.

Both phones have disappointing storage and memory capacities.
GeekPhone confirmed the first Firefox OS developer smartphones Keon and Peak will be available starting next month, there’s no word yet on how much they’ll cost. Firefox will also rollout over the air updates for these unlocked dev phones. It has been already confirmed that ZTE and TCL Communication Technology will design the Firefox OS devices equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon processors under the hood, and are expected to be priced at around $50. The U.S. based wireless carrier Sprint has also promised its support for Firefox OS phones.
