It seems the Cupertino based company is looking to introduce 128GB iOS devices in the future. Apple has released iOS 6.1 Beta 5 to developers yesterday. There is a mention to 128GB storage devices in the SystemPartitionPadding key in the BuildManifest.plist. If you might recall, we haven’t seen this type reference in previous releases. Of course, we’ve heard many rumors in past, indicating 128GB iOS devices. But the company hasn’t released any device with 128GB of built-in storage until now.
Unfortunately, there is no clarity in the build manifest on which particular device it is referring with 128GB storage space. BTW, such a big storage option on an iPad could make more sense, rather than on an iPhone handset if we consider this referring to be true. Interestingly. The folks over 9to5 Mac have come up with a leak, which suggests that Apple is indeed planning to release 128GB iPad model.
A leaked list SKUs in a U.S. retailer’s database has mentioned about P101 and P101 iPad models with “ULTIMATE A” and “ULTIMATE B” classifications, and Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular connectivity. The letter “A” refers to a black edition, and the letter “B” refers to variant. Apple is currently selling the 4-the gen iPad in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB editions with GOOD, BETTER, and BEST identifiers. So, this pattern is clearly suggesting that the new “ULTIMATE” classification would confirm a 128GB iPad model. The source is also saying that it will be considered as a premium model, and can be purchased in 10 packs in both colors for educational buyers.
There’s no word when this new iPad ULTIMATE model with alleged 128 storage will be offered by Apple. We’ve to see whether or not Apple will release it with new hardware, compared to the current 16GB, 32GB and 64GB iPad 4 models available now.
