Sprint Galaxy Nexus Android 4.2.1 GA02 Update

A couple of weeks ago, we reported about the Android 4.2.1 update availability on Google servers for the Sprint connected Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE phone. Today, Sprint has officially confirmed on its community window, that they have begun rolling out the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean update for its version of the Galaxy Nexus phones. It brings new build JRO03U.L700GA02.

The changelog of the Android 4.2.1 update for Sprint GNex phone is as follows:

  • # Redesigned camera interface and new Photo Sphere feature (a 360-degree panorama mode)
  • # Notifications Shade accessible by swiping top screen edge downwards; swipe down with two fingers to view notifications; tap the notification to expand and take action on it.
  • # Lockscreen widgets to access certain apps without unlocking the screen; sidescroll right for camera or left for other widgets (time and weather, gmail, etc.)

Eager users with Sprint models of the Galaxy Nexus, waiting for the OTA to hit your device, can manually check for the update by heading into Settings –> About phone –> System Updates –> then hit Check Now button and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the upgrading process. Please remember that the update is being pushed out to Sprint Nexuses in stages over a 10-21 day period.

Back in November of 2012, GSM Galaxy Nexus has been upgraded to Android 4.2.1 build, while the Sprint branded Galaxy Nexus got its Android 4.1 update back in September of last year. Unfortunately, Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus model has not been updated yet.
