A few days ago, we reported about the roll out of the Jelly Bean update for the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100G handsets, after it first hitting Spain region. It looks like the users of the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100M in Canada are now receiving the hotly anticipated Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update on their devices. The folks over SamMobile claim to have started receiving the bump from Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but not Google’s current version of Android software (v4.2.2, which is currently rolling out for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and N10)
Jelly Bean update is expected to bring some nice UI enhancements, stability improvements, and many new features including Google Now, Project Butter to provide amazing performance enhancements & great stability, new widgets that are borrowed from Galaxy S III, a couple of new Home screen modes, improved camera features, access for S Cloud, a customizable home screen, new Lockscreen with lots of customization options, a set of preinstalled apps – Direct Call, Smart Stay and Pop-up Play. There will be a new Notification bar with more notification toggles, and the update packs some other nice tweaks packed inside of it.
See that? There’s no doubt that it is an update you shouldn’t skip. Of course, the update will also carry new TouchWiz Nature UX customizations. The build number for the update is listed as JZO54K.
Good news is the update isn’t restricted to Samsung’s traditional desktop software Kies. It is also being pushed out over-the-air (OTA) in the stages now. So, not all Canadian Galaxy S II GT-I9100M owners might receive it at the same time. You should wait until they get a notification on their phones when it is ready to be downloaded and installed. As always, you can try to check or the update manually by hitting Setting –> Software Update –> Check Now an follow the on-screen instructions. Or else, plug your phone to a PC with a cable to run the update on Kies program. We guess that the next version of Android, v4.2.2 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S II won’t roll out until sometime later this year.
