Finally, the long awaited update breathes a complete new life into the two year old Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100P handset. According to the folks over SamMobile, the Korean manufacturer has begun seeding out the long awaited Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S II handset, which bears the model number GT-I900P. The build number of the device bumps up to JZO54K.

The new software update includes Project Butter smoothness, Google Now, new customizable notification area, Multi-View, new gallery, Pop-up Play, Pause while recording video, Smart Stay, Page Buddy, continuous keyboard input, Samsung Cloud services, Play Book, Play Book (not available in all markets), improved TouchWiz widgets (lifted from Galaxy S III), new Lockscreen with many customization options, new Notification bar with more notification toggles, Google Talk, Google+, Chrome browser, Block Mode for ignoring phone calls, and Easy Mode, and a handful of improvements.

The update is now rolling out over-the-air (OTA) and its rollout process is gradual as usual, but lots of GT-I9100P owners around the globe are already getting their notifications. Users can also upgrade their handsets to Jelly Bean build using Samsung’s Kies desktop program by connecting thier handsets to a PC via an USB an cable.

As the pdate is rolling out in stages slowly, it might take time to hit your handset. So don not panic, if your country hasn’t already received it, you will be getting it very soon. Keep hitting Menu –> Settings –> About Phone –> Update –> and Check Now button to manually check for the update.
