Huawei Ascend Mate phablet

Last month, the Huawei Ascend Mate was released in China. Now, the device will be available for sale in Australia starting from April 20. The phablet was announced along with Ascend D2 at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in January.

If you need a complete refresher, these are the specs of the Huawei Ascend Mate. It is running Google’s Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with Huawei’s custom made Motion UI on top of it. It sports a 6.1-inch 720p display with Gorilla Glass protection, powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz, 2GB of RAM to keep things running, equipped with an 8 megapixel camera on back side to record 1080p HD videos, a front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB, and more.

The phablet supports micro USB 2.0, Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11 Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, a powerful 4,050mAh battery, dual MIC noise reduction technology, Dolby sound system and stereo recording.

But the bad news is that the device for the region isn’t 4G enabled but it will support five 3G frequency bands along with four GSM bands. The Chinese mobile manufacturer won’t give any color option other than the Black variant in Australia. It will be priced at AU$429 which is around US$449.

Mozilla Firefox powered smartphone from the manufacturer is also being planned to be introduced very soon.
