Sprint has officially announced via its Community Forums that it has begun distributing the most awaited Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update its Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE handset in the United States. This must be a great news for users who are carrying this QWERTY phone. This update brings all of the added features of Jelly Bean build (Google Now, Project Butter, etc.), along with bug fixes, and all the lovely upgrades that go along with it.

The software version of the handset bumps up to 9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5 after the update. Here’s the full official changelog of the update:

All in all, it’s a great update for your currently aging Photon Q from Motorola, making it relevant once again.

The OTA update is rolling out to some devices beginning yesterday with all handsets being updated within 14 days. Otherwise, you can wait the notification hits your device. Just to on the safe side, you can see if the update is available on your device by heading into Settings > About phone > System updates > Update Motorola Software and follow the on-screen instructions
