Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is one of the worst-kept secrets of MWC 2011. We’ve been seeing many leaks of it since last year. Now Sony Ericsson made it official.
Prving all the previous rumours, Xperia Play is running with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, as well as Sony Ericsson’s TimeScape UI on a 1GHz Scorpian ARM v7 processor engraphted Adreno GPU with 60 fps playback 3D mobile gaming and minimal power consumption, sporting a 4-inch, 854 x 480 multi-touch LCD screen and a Horizontal slider with buttons similar to the PSP setup, and the Xperia Play is the first Android device to feature Sony’s ‘PlayStation Suite’.
The gaming power house, Xperia Play comes preloaded with a “fabled” PSone game and some popular Android games like Asphalt 6, The Sims 3 and Tetris, partnered with Reckless Racing for some more games Sony Ericsson will have 50 additional titles from 20 studios. It is lacking HDMI-out port, unlike the latest Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro.

Xperia Play comes with 5 Megapixels camera and an additional front-facing camera, Android Cloud to Device messaging (C2DM), 512MB RAM, 400MB internal memory, 8GB micro-SD card inserted, scope for memory expansion up to 32GB, 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity, Wi-Fi Hotspot, stereo speakers, Bluetooth and WiFi functionality, gives talk time of up to 6 hours 25 mins on 3G service and much more.
Price & Availability
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is expected to be available first in European markets and Sony has announced that it will start shipping from March and will be available in ‘early spring’ on Verizon Wireless’ in US.
