Sony Ericsson has released its most awaited gaming smartphone Xperia Play in the 11 countries today around the world, excluding the U.S. markets. The U.S. takers are expected to wait till April 14th or some other time this spring until the handset launched through Verizon Wireless. The PlayStation phone is now available in the U.K., Hong Kong, Russia, Germany, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden and Taiwan with six additional markets to follow over the next two weeks.
To remind you again Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is world’s PlayStation Certified Android powered smartphone and it is now shipping with 60 PSP games, including the Need for Speed and The Sims and five PSP games already available in Android Market.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is running with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, as well as Sony Ericsson’s TimeScape UI on a 1GHz Scorpion ARM v7 processor engraphted Adreno GPU with 60 fps playback 3D mobile gaming and minimal power consumption, sporting a 4-inch, 854 x 480 multi-touch LCD screen and a Horizontal slider with buttons similar to the PSP setup, 512MB RAM, 400MB internal memory, 8GB micro-SD card inserted, scope for memory expansion up to 32GB, 3G, Wi-Fi connectivity, Wi-Fi Hotspot, stereo speakers, Bluetooth and WiFi functionality, and the Xperia Play is the first Android device to feature Sony’s ‘PlayStation Suite’.
