The official Android 2.3 Gingerbread update was supposed to hit the Motorola Droid X handset in last month, but it got delayed. But the three unofficial Gingerbread versions have already been leaked for the Droid X, including a ‘silent’ Gingerbread update.
It seems we are getting closer and closer to release of Gingerbread update for Droid X. The folks over Droid Life are reporting that Motorola has settled a latest build and expects Verizon to approve it by tomorrow, May 6th. If everything goes well, Motorola might be pushing out the Android 2.3 gingerbread update starting from May 13th, Friday or around May 16th. Sources are also suggesting that the current build of Gingerbread for the phone is stable and it’s now just up to Verizon and Motorola to decide when to release the Gingerbread build for Droid X. Otherwise, we will get another leaked version of Gingerbread for Droid X.
Conceiving the fact that Gingerbread brings a nice range of new features into the mix, and the carrier is expected to announce the availability of the new OS flavor for its Motorola Droid X very soon, that’s for sure.
