The unannounced Motorola Droid X 2 (or Droid X²) handset is rumored to be launched on May 12th (today) by Verizon Wireless, but Verizon hasn’t come up with any official announcement yet. A few days ago, Droid X 2 handset has popped up in Best Buy’s inventory and now Costco is getting some dummy units ready for its in-store displays. This source is hinting us that Big Red Verizon would be gearing up to unveil this device as soon as possible.

Motorola Droid X 2 runs on Android 2.2 Froyo OS, packing with a 4.3 inches qHD LCD display with 540 x 960 pixels, NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core 1.2GHz processor, complemented with 512MB RAM, 8 megapixels rear-facing camera with dual-LED flash, 720p HD movie capturing capability, 1080p HD video playback (1920 x 1080), 8GB internal storage, micro-HDMI, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Compass sensors, Android Market, and more.

It would also sport Wi-Fi, CDMA and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a built-in GPS receiver for supporting various location-based services and applications.

Motorola Droid X 2 is expected to hit the shelves at Verizon Wireless with a price tag of $199.99 on a two-year contract.
