Finally, the Samsung Droid Charge is going to land on U.S. soil through Verizon Wireless. Droid Charge was supposed to launch on April 28th along with the rugged Casio G’zOne Commando, but got delayed due to Big Red’s 4G LTE network outage and some unknown "issue with functionality", and then we heard the rumors about its May 3rd launch, but it also didn’t happen. After a delay of two weeks, Verizon hasn’t still announced its release date. Techs and sales reps have been informed that Verizon would finally launch this phone on tomorrow, May 14. Droid Charge will cost you $299.99 on a two-year contract with the carrier. Verizon’s other (Verizon’s first) LTE-capable handset, the HTC Thunderbolt, retails for a subsidized $250, and is now available for $129 at Amazon.
Samsung Droid Charge is the second 4G LTE capable handset for Verizon, and starting tomorrow you’ll be able to get your hands on its 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display (480×800 pixels), running on 1GHz processor, packs an eight-megapixel rear camera along with 1.3-megapixel front-facing webcam for video chats and powered by Google Android 2.2 Froyo.
It has also got Mobile Hotspot connectivity that allows you share a 4G connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi devices (up to 5 if sharing a 3G connection), 32GB micro-SD Card Pre-installed, Amazon kindle Reader app, 802.11 Wi-Fi b/g/n connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0, A-GPS, HDMI-out, DLNA capability, Android Market, and more. Hotspot functionality will be offered for free for an unspecified introductory period.
