World’s first Android powered PlayStation certified Sony Ericsson Xperia Play handset is set to release by Verizon Wireless, but the carrier hasn’t specified the release date yet. Previous rumors speculated that May 26th could be this handset’s release date. A few hours ago, Xperia Play has appeared on Walmart’s website and later the web page was pulled from the website. This is enough to hint us that this handset is getting closer and closer to release from Verizon before the end of this month, possibly on May 26th. Verizon will be the first carrier to carry this handset in the U.S.

Android Gingerbread filled SE Xperia Play has got a 4-inch LCD display with FWVGA (854×480) resolution, powered from a single core 1GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 second generation processor along with 1GB of ROM (400MB accessible) and 512MB of RAM, equipped with an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash, capable to record video at 720p HD , an additional front-facing camera for video calls, a microUSB charging sync/cable, Wi-Fi b/g/n, aGPS, and Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR. Xperia Play comes with an 8GB micro-SD card and the memory is expandable up to 32GB.
