We were pretty sure that its landing on Verizon network in the U.S, and on yesterday, we reported about its release date, but we were just waiting for its official release date and price value. Obviously we are talking about the Sony Xperia Play for Verizon. We have just got some official info and it looks like rumors turned out pretty much true about its launch date. Verizon Wireless and Sony Ericsson have just announced that they are launching the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play smartphone on May 26th with a price tag of $199.99 on a two year contract, making it available to pre-order it starting from May 19th.
To remind you again - Xperia Play is the first Android powered PlayStation certified smartphone, running on Android Gingerbread OS, fueled by 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with Adreno 205 GPU, 4-inch LCD display with FWVGA (480 x 854) resolution, along with 1GB of ROM (400MB accessible) and 512MB of RAM, equipped with an 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, capable to record video at 720p HD , an additional front-facing camera for video calls, PlayStation Suite, a microUSB charging sync/cable, Wi-Fi b/g/n, aGPS, and Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR. Xperia Play comes with an 8GB micro-SD card and the memory is expandable up to 32GB, and it is capable of connecting to PlayStation 3.

Verizon has also notified that takers should be signing up for Nationwide Talk plan and a smartphone data package plans, starting at $39.99/month, and are required to subscribe for an unlimited data plan at $30.
Verizon’s Xperia Play will be launched with seven games pre-loaded on it — NFL 11 (EA Sports), Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior (Digital Legends), Crash Bandicoot (Sony PlayStation), The Sims 3 (EA), Star Battalion (Gameloft), Asphalt 6: Adrenaline (Gameloft), and Tetris.
