There are reports from multiple sources that a possible retail brand name for the RIM’s Blackberry Monaco 9850 and Monza 9860 could be ‘Volt‘. Though there are no official confirmation about the renaming and we are yet to see any tangible evidence that the Monaco/Monza will be called the BlackBerry Volt, keep your eyes and ears open for more information and we are doing the same.
The variants Monaco and Monza possess the same external design based on a 3.7-inch touchscreen, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processors and 768MB of RAM but the difference lies in their ties to CDMA and GSM networks. The gadgets are quite similar to the Blackberry Storm minus the SurePress click-in touchscreen technology.
However, there are also rumors that RIM will be keeping the 9850/9860 in the Torch family. This device is set to be RIM’s next-generation slate device. Do keep in mind that these are just initial reports and there are more confirmation and details to come.
Though we have already reported that the phone may be launched this May, its likely to hit the market this late summer or by early fall only.
