Earlier, Google has released two Nexus devices with Eclair and Gingerbread versions of the Android OS. In last month, it has officially unveiled the next version of Android OS – Ice Cream Sandwich. Since then, everybody wanted to know what could be the name of the next Nexus device, and what features it will be having, and who will manufacture it for Google? Well the folks over at BGR are reporting that they’ve got the exclusive details about the next generation Nexus smartphone, and the next Nexus is said to be the Nexus 4G.
According to the source, Nexus 4G will be packing in a thin, light body, featuring a “monster-sized” screen with 1280 x 720 pixels (720p), powered by 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz dual-core processor (possibly a 28nm Krait-based Snapdragon, or a TI OMAP 4460). We thought it could be at least a quad-core chipset, anyway other specs are include 1GB RAM, 1080p HD video playback, a 5MP camera with “class-leading image quality” to work well is low-light conditions, a 1 MP front-facing camera, and a ‘4G LTE’ radio. Yes, it will be having 4G LTE connectivity. But, there is no exact word on which carrier will launch this device. But, BGR says that AT&T will release Nexus 4G handset as its first 4G LTE compatible handset. Nexus 4G won’t be having any Android Menu buttons like the existing Android phones. The complete lack of buttons speculation lead to the possibility of new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS installation on this device, as this OS version also compatible with tablets hardware, and is said to merge the Gingerbread and Honeycomb features. We are guessing that screen size of the Nexus 4G could be 4.5 to 5-inches.
There were rumors suggesting that it would be made by LG. The next Nexus phone is expected to arrive sometime around Thanksgiving, and we already knew that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS is due this fall. There is no word on price yet. This is all unconfirmed and unofficial information and remember to take it with a pinch of salt, as there’s no trusted source provided by BGR to prove the above mentioned specs of next Google Nexus phone to be real.
