Sony has announced its two new Android tablets Sony S1 and Sony S2 in April. And today we have some update on when these tablets are going to hit the markets. Some one from Sony’s marketing group has sent a private email to Engadget, revealing the probable pre-order and release timeline of the tablets. According to Engadget, both these tablets will be available for pre-order in August and will hit the stores in the UK towards the end of September. It should be noted that Sony didn’t mention the names of the tablets, but according to the timeline they mentioned is on the lines of what we heard earlier about the S1 and S2 tablets (release in “fall”). It’s just not that alone. Sony has event went on to an extent of comparing the tablet with the iPad and saying that the tablet will offer ‘unique design features’ and will compete with the iPad. And at least from this it’s more or less clear that it was the Sony S1 / Sony S2 tablet(s) that they were talking about.
Sony S1 and S2 tablets run on Android 3.0 Honeycomb and are PlayStation certified devices. Sony S1 features a 9.4-inch display and runs on Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor. Both the tablets will feature Sony Qriocity music streaming service.
