Are you waiting for a Verizon branded Samsung QWERTY slider handset powered by Android OS? Well, it looks like, you will be getting one in the near future. Samsung is manufacturing a device codenamed as SCH-i405, which is expected to be QWERTY + touchscreen capable handset and it has made an appearance in leaked pictures over the last weekend. The handset is posing Verizon logo on front top side of the device, and it looks like it is Sprint’s version of the Samsung Epic 4G for Verizon Wireless.
According to sources, the Samsung SCH-i405 has already received Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certifications, but it is yet to be approved by FCC. So we can guess that we may not see this particular handset’s launch for another month or so. The technical specifications of this handset are not known yet. The folks over PocketNow have mentioned that this handset might be sporting WVGA resolution display equipped with a single core 1GHz application processor under the hood. So it won’t be having high-end specifications as that of the Sprint’s Samsung Epic 4G. A few days ago, we’ve reported that Sprint is expected to release Samsung Epic 2 with a single-core 1.2GHz processor and 4-inch display.
The model number of this handset is i405, which looks like to be correct considering the fact that the Samsung Continuum was bearing SCH-i400 model number earlier. According to the source, this handset won’t be having the 4G LTE connectivity, and the model number suggests that this handset will be having low-end specifications and out-dated hardware equipment inside it along with a Slacker Radio icon that you can see in the above image.
