HTC Thunderbolt To Get Gingerbread Update By October

HTC Thunderbolt To Get Gingerbread Flavor Roll Out By October

HTC Thunderbolt was launched as the first 4G LTE capable smartphone to run under the Big Red network. Its only drawback has been the lack of Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, that the Verizon users have been eagerly and patiently waiting for, since it was launched with the out-dated Froyo OS on the board. Back in May, a leak has suggested that the Gingerbread roll out was scheduled on June 30th. But it didn’t happen, and the carrier has promised HTC Thunderbolt could see an upgrade to Gingerbread before the Q2 is up, and now, according to some trusted reports by HTC representatives in a conversation to the folks over Droid-Life, the HTC Thunderbolt would get Gingerbread update before the end of Q3.

HTC adds:

We are working hard to address the issues you have mentioned with future updates for the device. We are excited to announce that the HTC Thunderbolt will receive the Gingerbread (Android 2.3) update in Q3 2011. Stay tuned for details as we get closer to the update availability

So, again, we are hearing a particular time period to the Gingerbread roll out for HTC Thunderbolt. Expect the update to hit the handsets by this October. On a sad note, you might have to wait another eight more weeks for your update to arrive, but as the third quarter of the year has already started so you don’t need to get panic. Really, it’s kind of a frustrating situation that we don’t have a more concrete date to look forward to, but we’ll let you know when we hear about an exact date.
