AT&T will become the first US carrier to push the Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update to the customers if we are to believe the latest rumors. According to a leaked internal memo obtained by the folks at BGR, AT&T seems to have planned to offer the Windows Phone Mango update to as many as four Windows Phone handsets viz. the HTC Surround, LG Quantum, Samsung Focus and the HTC HD7S.
Three of the above Windows Phone devices namely the HTC Surround, LG Quantum and Samsung Focus will receive the Windows Phone 7.5 update starting Tuesday, September 27. However, the fourth Windows Phone device HTC HD7S will receive the update towards the end of October according to the memo. Microsoft and AT&T announced three new Windows Phone 7.5 devices last week (Samsung Focus S, HTC Titan and Samsung Focus Flash) along with a word that they would update the carrier’s existing four Windows Phone devices to Windows Phone Mango. It’s good to see that the update rollout will indeed be happening pretty soon.
Owners of the Samsung Focus should however note that there will be two sets of updates coming to their device depending on their device version: Samsung Focus 1.3 version will get the update on September 27th but the 1.4 version of the update will be rolled out in another month’s time.
Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update, which was first announced at the Windows Phone 7 event in May will be released in the first week of October with more than 500 features.
