Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet Unveiled With $199 Price Tag; Features Android 2.3, Dual-Core CPU

Here it is folks. Amazon has finally announced a tablet called Amazon Kindle Fire, made by the same OEM that manufactured the BlackBerry Playbook. Sure enough, it looks a lot like a BlackBerry PlayBook by RIM and it looks pretty damn amazing. Kindle Fire runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, but you will be missing the traditional Android user interface. Most of you must be wondering if this could be an iPad killer. I do not know about an iPad killer but the price is definitely killer here in this case. You can buy the Amazon Kindle Fire for just $199.99.

Amazon Kindle Fire tablet comes with a 6-inch multitouch-enabled IPS display with Gorilla Glass coating delivering 1024 X 600 pixels of resolution (same as on Playbook), a TI OMAP4 dual-core processor ticking under the hood with 1GHz frequency, 8GB of internal memory storage –  which is enough for 80 apps, plus either 10 movies or 800 songs or 6,000 books, 3.5mm headset jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity (no 3G, unfortunately) , top-mounted stereo speakers, battery is said to last for 8 hours of continuous reading or 7.5 hours of video playback using Wi-Fi connection, Amazon App Store, full access to the Internet with Amazon’s Silk browser . Moreover, Fire also supports Flash feature and weighs 14.6 ounces. You will also have access to all of Amazon’s services including AmazonMP3, Amazon Prime, Amazon Kindle, Amazon Instant Video.

You’ll see a very small, light version of the page that will load very quickly on the Fire. The browser is called “Amazon Silk,” and it is a cloud-accelerated browser that uses a “split browser” architecture. It splits the workload between the Kindle Fire and Amazon’s cloud. the Kindle Fire will sync your Amazon-based media collection between devices, letting you to watch a movie from where you left off. Yes! A feature called “Whispersync” will also work with movies and TV Shows – It will let you to switch a movie to a big screen TV and you can watch the movie where you left it when you get home. You can backup your entire media content of Kindle to the cloud, so you can delete things without a care and get it back when you want. It is also having a unified email app for Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, and AOL

Sadly, kindle Fire isn’t having a camera, an SD card card slot for memory expansion support, Bluetooth, microphone.

Kindle Fire will be having 100 exclusive graphic novels” from DC Entertainment, including Watchmen, Batman: Arkham City, Superman: Earth One, and Green Lantern: Secret Origin. It will be also having “hundreds of magazines and newspapers” including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Wired, Elle, The New Yorker, Cosmopolitan, Verge offices, Martha Stewart Living.

Pre-Order

Pre-orders are now live for Amazon kindle Fire at Amazon’s Website (hit the link) for $199.99 and it will ship in the U.S. only, beginning November 15th. Buyers will be offered a free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime and there will be also free three-month access to a selection of 17 Condé Nast publications.
